When Should You Use H5 Apps?

We do a lot of H5 development—both scripts (that run inside M3) and apps (commonly called SDK apps). In our opinion, H5 is one of the most powerful and underused tools in the M3 toolbox.

A lot of customers struggle with picking the right tool for the job, especially when the best solution sometimes requires a developer.
For example, we often see users trying to load a spreadsheet of customers and attach them to items in OIS005. Instead of a tailored solution, they sometimes end up reaching for generic platforms, or even third-party systems, that aren't really built for the task.

In many cases, this ends up forcing the user to work around the limitations of the tool, rather than solving the problem directly.

That’s where H5 apps shine.

Building an H5 app is quick, straightforward, and based on Angular, one of the most popular frameworks in the world. This opens the door to a huge ecosystem of libraries, tools, and best practices.

Since H5 apps are written in TypeScript and Angular, you also get the benefits of modern development:

- Automatic testing

- Reliable libraries

- Version control

- Scalable, maintainable code

We’ve built a lot of real-world solutions this way—like QMS apps that make attaching photos to tests easy, or apps that allow users to upload Excel sheets to create purchase orders, all inside a clean and interactive interface.

So next time you’re looking at options for a user-facing solution, don’t overlook H5.
It’s faster, more flexible, and often a much better fit than you might expect.
